Synopsis of This Wicked Fate

How much would you risk to save the ones you love? Would you tempt even the most dangerous fate?

Briseis has one chance to save her mother, but she’ll need to do the impossible: find the last fragment of the deadly Absyrtus Heart. If she is to locate the missing piece, she must turn to the blood relatives she’s never known, learn about their secret powers, and take her place in their ancient lineage. Briseis is not the only one who wants the Heart, and her enemies will stop at nothing to fulfill their own ruthless plans. The fates tell of a truly dangerous journey, one that could end in more heartache, more death. Bolstered by the sisterhood of ancient magic, can Briseis harness her power to save the people she loves most?

My Review of This Wicked Fate

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This Poison Heart was one of my top five books of 2021, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of This Wicked Fate to find out how Bri’s story would end! Without spoiling anything, the ending of This Poison Heart left me reeling, so when I received an ARC of This Wicked Fate I did scream a little bit.

This Wicked Fate delves deeper into the mythological elements of the Colchis family which were some of my favorite parts of This Poison Heart. This series has one of the best integrations of mythology into a contemporary world I’ve read. Kaylynn Bayron uses classic Greek myths to thread themes of heritage, family, and legacy into the narrative. In a sweeping and readable narrative, Bayron gives a fantastic conclusion to this must-read duology! Also, the amount of lesbian and sapphic relationships in these books is downright incredible, so if you’re searching for an amazing queer fantasy duology you need to grab copies! I loved reading about the connection between Bri and Marie, which was tender and sweet despite a high-stakes plot surrounding them. They are one of my favorite fictional couples, and I loved getting to see both of them on the cover whenever I grabbed my copy of This Wicked Fate!

My Recommendation-
If you love stories with elements of mythology in a contemporary world, you need to grab copies of both This Poison Heart and This Wicked Fate! I would especially recommend these books to readers who grew up loving Percy Jackson, and are looking for a story with a similar sense of magic!
