I received a copy of Night Cry through NetGalley so I could share my review with you!
Synopsis of Night Cry
When it comes to rituals, Teresa, who runs a bookstore specializing in magic and the occult, knows her fair share. But when she manages to summon Laura, an anime-loving demon, the ritual goes awry: Laura is there to grant her any wish, but Teresa doesn’t know what to ask for. And so the two are stuck with each other… Thus begins a strange cohabitation, while Laura decides to investigate a series of unexplained disappearances in town. Through the author’s captivating artwork and spirited dialogue, discover an offbeat and magical world close to our own, alternating between warmth and sweet melancholy.
My Review of Night Cry
The dark and spooky art style was my favorite part of Night Cry! The characters were fun to read about, and fit nicely into the larger plot of the story. I think sticking to a consistently dark color palette favoring deeper blues and blacks was a strong choice, which made the accent colors on characters pop out so well!
My Recommendation-
If you like strange graphic novels with lots of character, you should grab a copy of Night Cry! I would especially recommend this book to readers who enjoy darker stories, but who need a shorter book to stay engaged while reading!
